MM55 Radar Report – Rum Drum Ramblers

RumDrumRamblers.jpgThe latest addition to the MM55RadarReport is the Saint Louis Missouri based Rum Drum Ramblers. The Americana music genre is painted with a very broad brush and this band has paint on every bristle. Drawing stylistically from the likes of Fats Waller, sans piano, and the jazz, blues and Tin Pan Alley stylings of Leon Redbone, Rum Drum Ramblers breath new life into an era that shaped the Americana music landscape for decades to come. I love this music and I truly appreciate it's re-introduction to a new generation of fans.

I was promoting live music at The Orchid lounge in Houston Texas when 40’s swing came back around in the mid 1990’s with bands like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Squirrel Nut Zippers and Royal Crown Review. I am amazed at how past music genre’s find there way back into the music mainstream via the punk and alternative music communities around the world. The 21st Century kids get it and that makes me happy.

RumDrumMeanScene.jpgRum Drum Ramblers latest CD entitled “Mean Scene” is a compilation of great tunes that transport the listener back to a time when music was raw and powerful, a time before mediocre musicians could be made to sound good by modern studio technology and over paid self indulgent producers. From “Jack & Tom” to the title track “Mean Scene” and closing with “What I Must’ve Done” this CD is an aural delight from start to finish!!!

I highly recommend adding Rum Drum Ramblers to your Music Radar Screen…
